I mentioned in my Thanksgiving blog that one welcome side effect of cancer was getting back into poetry again after a nearly 20-year absence. Some of my recent work has appeared in Plainsongs, Nebraska Life and Conclave: A Journal of Character. Two of my poems will appear in The Untidy Season: An Anthology of Nebraska Women Poets, scheduled for publication in spring 2012.
These are some of my favorite poetry sites. Feel free to comment and share more.
Rattle: Poetry for the 21st Century
Great poetry journal and their Web site showcases different poems every day. They also post reviews of poetry books, and included one I did on a chapbook called The Voices: The Poetry of Psychiatry. If you would like to review a book but don’t have one, they have a list of books available for review in their E-review section.
This is the mother lode. They publish the excellent monthly Poetry magazine, and they have an awesome poetry tool online that lets you search by title, author, first line, category and even occasion.
A wonderful, nationally renowned journal from the English Department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Stunning poetry and fiction about health, illness and the human condition from the Departmenf of Medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center. It is affiliated with Bellevue Hospital, the oldest public hospital in the United States.
